If you've ever seen the movie/read the book Coraliine, then you know how cool this is. I made a ragdoll that looks like me, with my clothes, and my little accessories and everything. It was pretty cool. I drew a picture first and then made a pattern, cut out the pieces and made it. It was really cool to see the drawing-to-real-thing process.

Did a mini-photoshoot down at the railroad tracks last week. [and got a lecture for it, did you think railroad tracks were dangerous??] The theme: Damsel in distress. I got my little brother to play the [adorable] mustached villain. Said he felt like an evil magician, although he was sporting bright orange crocs :). Here are some of the highlights.

So, my perfect man would be a collage of these guys... I picked them out for specific reasons, these aren't just a bunch of random hot guys. [notice Zac Efron isn't on there] George O'Malley is one in a million; he's a good person and a good friend. He cares about people, he jumps in front of a bus to save somebody he doesn't even know! Harry Potter is a pure soul; he got the sorcerers stone out of the mirror of erised because his intentions were pure. He cares more about others than himself. He is a strong leader, but he doesn't seek power or fame. Besides that, I grew up reading him. . . Wesley is the definition of true love. I mean, "as you wish" *melt* He lives for Buttercup. Johnny from dirty dancing is just awesome.... and dirty dancing is my favorite movie so he had to go on there, i love him. I can watch that movie over and over and over again. Ren from footloose is another gem, he's really unappreciated. [almost as much as George] He took care of his mom while she was dieing and when he moved to Beaumont he didn't complain or mope around; he made it a better place. Ducky has one of the most important things in a guy, or anybody really, a good sense of humor. And that bit where he dances to that song in the record store, that's priceless. She should have ended up with Ducky.... Peeta, of course, is pretty much the perfect man. If you are familiar with the hunger games, you understand. Rodger from 101 dalmatians is on there because when I was little, my sister always imagined me growing up to marry him.It's a running joke with us. I don't know if you've noticed this, you're probably getting bored reading this long explanation already, but I haven't put why Ryan Gosling is on there. I don't have any profound reason for liking him, he's just gorgeous.hehehe... so there you have it.

So today was the first graduation meeting. GASP! Its only October! But we have to start planning ahead of time so we don't have to work till the last minute; so we can breathe for heaven's sake! [I never would have thought of that hehehe....] Anyway, so we talked about what we all have to do, and I thought maybe I should start on my slideshow. For those of you who have never experienced a home-school graduation, I'll explain things a little bit. All the home school seniors in the group get together to plan their graduation, my class is about ten or so people, probably eight of us will go for the big ceremony, me included. We walk in to pomp and circumstance like any normal graduation, but then each person gets to do whatever they want really, for a bit, and then their parents present them with their diploma. Usually, the student prepares a picture slideshow and then either gives a speech or preforms a song or something. So today I started scanning my baby pictures onto the computer to put into my slideshow. A long story I know, but you'd be surprised how many people don't know homeschoolers even have graduations. Here are some of my pictures, and more on the graduation story as it develops :)

Henna!

So I went to the clothesline fair in Prairie Grove today and it was AMAZING! If you want to go to a strictly arts and crafts fair, this is the one for you. They call it the clothesline fair because originally artists just hung their stuff out on clotheslines for people to buy. Anyway I got a henna tattoo there. I've always wanted to try one of those kits you can get for it, but I never knew how Henna actually worked. Well today I got a complete education on the subject, so let me tell you; Henna is an organic dye/stain made from the henna plant. It is then dried, mixed with eucalyptus oil, and made into a dark green paste. You apply the paste to your skin with a little bottle with a thin pen tip on it. It dries black and then when the paste cracks and falls off, its light orange, which darkens to reddish brown with oxidization over the next five days. It can last up to six weeks if you don't wash it too vigorously. At the clothesline fair you can just tell them how much you want to spend and what sort of thing you want [sun, flowers, paisley, etc.] and they just doodle on your hand. Its super cool. And it smells really good, all the eucalyptus I guess. I'm hooked now, I love my little sun and I want to do my whole body :)

I found this old photograph at an antique store today for 25 cents. Cool right?! I love old pictures. Whenever I look at them I can't help but imagine what the people were like, what they were doing, who they were. . . She looks nice, you would have liked her. I think her family was very serious and strict but she was a dreamer, maybe a little unconventional. But always the voice of reason. And she's a writer.

I covered my light-switch thing in my room with a dictionary page this weekend. I really like how it turned out, with the little dog in the corner. Every time I turn on the lights in my room I smile. I especially love how it looks against my blue walls.
All I did was cover the light-switch plate with tacky glue, [but elmer's white school glue works too] smooth it down, [cutting the corners so they fold nicely] and when it was dry I coated it with clear spray-paint a few times so it has a good finish. That way I figure it'll clean pretty well.

But, The movie is coming out in march people! so, even though I know the movie will suck and they won't do the books justice at all, I'm going to the midnight premier and I'm throwing a huge hunger games party! but its not till march. . .I'm still in a hunger-games mood though, so I've been making fan art and stuff. I found some really great heart-shaped rocks down at the creek a few weeks ago. I absolutely love them. Little kids give (vaguely) heart shaped rocks, I boy I liked gave me a heart shaped rock once. . . Heart shaped rocks are God saying, "I love you"

~sigh~ I have neglected my poor blog for so long because: a. My computer has been experiencing difficulties and I almost lost ALL OF MY PICTURES. Hands are one of the hardest things to draw. but then so are eyes and i love to draw them. here's the back of my left hand.[I was drawing with my right hand.] I think it turned out pretty well. I like to draw my hands :). I think hands are almost as expressive as eyes. You can tell a lot from someone's hands.

The clone troopers are all clones of Jango Fett, the bounty hunter. He's awesome so they cloned him to make the perfect army. Storm troopers are clones and human recruits. Disney princesses are really hard!! I suppose it's because they're so iconic that if you get them just a bit off they look wrong. . .but i like my interpretations alright. Ariel and Cinderella are my favorite Disney princesses. But Harry Potter tops them all! I'm re-reading the forth one for like, the hundredth time. This is the first time I've ever tried to draw him though, i've always been to nervous that i'd mess him up and not do him justice.

So I've got some really cool stuff drawn now, I filled up my sketch book so I'm staring in on a new one. I've got some decent Scott Pilgrim stuff [Wallace Wells turned out pretty awesome if i do say so myself!] and I drew this girl with red lips from a teen vogue picture and a picture inspired by this awesome song [tree hugger- it's on the sidebar.] I love the cactus! And I've been working on big paper a little, so my proportions are getting better for sure. I finally did my homework so now i can go have a drawing lesson sometime. [i drew my toothbrush from six different angles.] Also I'm really practicing my photography, i love my camera. ♥♥♥ I might take a class on that sometime, i think it'd really help. Besides that I think I'm gonna learn to play the guitar.

So I'm back from vacation--- The lakes in Michigan are more like freshwater oceans!!
And I don't have any drawings to post at the moment. Lately I've been gearing up for back to school [I start next Wednesday] and reading fashion magazines. I'm really inspired, fashion, after all is just another expression of self- therefore an art in it's own right. I love digging through my closet and putting together different things. I like teen vogue because I wear every different style [preppy, grunge, classic, punk, high fashion, beach-y, you name it.] and it's really diverse. I highly recommend it to anyone who wears clothing.

But I drew a picture of Twiggy, and old man, a girl and myself. [but only my hair and one eye turned out good on that, everything else looks great.] All of those are in charcoal btw. I've gotten a lot better at doing hair, my hair looks really good now so it improves my pictures a lot. And, in case you were wondering, the current land speed record is 763 mph. I learned that today.

My best friend is in love with Sokka, therefore she asked me to draw her picture kissing him, so i needed an example picture so i got this one, but i couldn't save it from where it was so i put it on my blog and ta da! so i'll put the finished product later. . . . .

I drew this on my brother's arm [at his request] with sharpie marker. He says I have a future as a tattooist, lol. I also did a heart that says, "I love my mom" he thinks it's very tough.

Comic books and New Inspiration

I've been on vacation so I haven't had a lot of time for blogging, but now that I'm back, I've got some new stuff. My brother likes comic books and we both love batman, so I drew some of him. Also I did two really good landscapes in pen, but i gave them both away before i could take pictures of them :( . Anyway, I'm feeling very inspired lately, I've been reading about altering clothing, and I'm exited to do some old shirts of mine :). But what I really have to work on in drawing is pictures showing the different perspectives on the same object for my teacher. That's my assignment. I couldn't decide what to do so I'm going to do a lot of different things and just have a variety. [I did my batman picture's that way although I'm sure that's not what she had in mind. hehehe] Also here's Aang and Toph that I drew on vacation.
